Feeling jaded today. Alberta referendum went pretty much as I thought it would. The entire 10 questions could have been rolled into one:

Do you want the government of Alberta to
A) remain racist within Canada, or
B) be racist as an annexed territory of the USA?

Media and federal politicians celebrating that the people chose option A.

Still thinking about Ford. A lot of people think Ford likes Carney so much because Carney is basically a conservative.

But Ford is less an ideologue than he is a political opportunist. I tend to believe he's simply insinuating himself into the PM's social circle in the hopes some poll numbers rub off.

Guys, I'm truly sorry for what I was thinking after seeing that orange fascist crowing about getting all he wanted in Greenland and then seeing the Dane delegation smiling and nodding along enthusiastically. Thankfully I never said anything publicly because I was waiting for details.

But I should have known the evil clown was desperately looking for the appearance of a win in the lead-up to the mid-terms and that the deal would be an empty sandwich. It should have been obvious given that I counted no fewer than 20 outright lies elsewhere in his words, and probably missed 20 more.

Misdirection. Note how authoritarians always point to the little guys in the trenches as being the victims. I'm not aware of any case of the ICC going after "US service members." They go after those with power. The decision makers.

A rightfully pissed-off Cuban delegation packs its things and walks out while Trump calls them "a failed state that will fall".

I have no idea why Venezuela didn't do the same thing earlier as he bragged about getting all their oil and "in war to the victors goes the spoils."

I love that we have a national broadcaster.

I love that they frequently make cool shows that reflect our culture.

I love that they have a streaming service where you can watch those cool shows for free.

I wish the government would give them more money so they wouldn't have to show ads or charge a subscription fee.

I very strongly dislike that Gem uses ads served by AdChoices - a cartel of various advertisers, such as Google, created to protect their business model and give the illusion of choice to viewers and avoid government oversight of their industry.

I hate that lately some of these ads have teenie-tiny print in the corner that says "This ad contains synthetic actors."
