computers today be like #shitpost

@catsalad the world needs more of this kind of blissful happiness

This company needs to be shoved in the Flock Jar

Cool just found out in one of those private verbal-only meetings that we have an attendance point system, the points never expire, events that occurred before the point system was ever put into effect are assigned points as well, and I have no points left and will just be terminated with cause if I'm ever absent without permission.

That's a very normal one bro

none of you are free from sin

hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh my workplace is CURSED

SO CURSED

my favorite cursed discovery today: three layers of incomplete cabling that occurred when my boss made a new guy who didn't have experience terminating coaxial cables install and terminate a bunch of coaxial cables. freaking bnc connectors look like they were crimped with a walrus's teeth and one of them doesn't work. just beautifully cursed. #CURSED

are people really gatekeeping transgender identity that hard? I've always felt it's simply.... do you identify as transgender? there. that's the one condition. you don't live to be sorted into someone else's bins and pigeon holes

I got exactly one picture of myself in this adorable outfit, and I'm flipping off a petulant transmitter that can't take a little bit of heat.

(Honestly it was more than a little bit. Glad I wore my mesh corset.) #broadcastengineering

the appropriate disposal method is to take it out back to a nonflammable surface and yeet a good ol' molotov cocktail at it

please do not throw capitalism in this toilet as it is extremely difficult to remove. thank you

I feel weird about asking this kind of thing but at the moment I realize I have a whole $112 to my name after what felt like a terrible fever dream situation earlier this year, if you would be willing and able to help out a bit, it'd make things a lot nicer. Hopefully this will be last really rough obnoxious month like this.

Wow I didn't realize when you order a replacement Pixel battery from iFixit that $40 price includes EVERYTHING you need to replace it
https://www.ifixit.com/products/google-pixel-6a-battery-genuine

Is there anything else I should add? My battery is definitely at the "please, I am so tired" stage.

OMG what. I'm currently very high and just learned about a moderately cursed connector and the fact that it was apparently used for SCSI??!!

@foone how is this allowed

Cassie would like to remind you that cuddles are highly important #tortie

wait what, this shit is using tiny 2mm ruby bearings? how elegant. apparently they're notorious for sticking and the solution is.... lightly grease the ball

The weird thing is I do not remember my Logitech right-thumb trackballs ever getting sticky like this, so maybe they use a different bearing system

Not to be gross but I think the oils from my skin get transferred onto the orb and normally keep it slick enough to work once it's already there - it's just like, right after cleaning it, the thing feels like "oh crap I broke it"

So, out of curiosity...

I use this Kensington Orbit trackball at work. It has a blue mica sheen looking ball (unknown plastic resin) that rests and glides on three small red beads (unknown material?).
Every now and then I'll pull the ball out to clean it and if I clean things too well, the ball stops gliding, requiring me to apply a little bit of silicone or something to the ball to get it working again.

What is the best way to clean these things and keep them from initially binding up again?

ow ow ow owwwww fucking shit said thing shat a 19" LCD monitor off its moorings and dropped it corner first on my foot from about five feet up

I think it's just bruised but FUCKING OW

also the fucking goddamn monitor survived somehow. viewsonic: fucking battering ram of monitors

the best possible management pattern:

"DROP EVERYTHING AND COME FIX THIS THING" [which will take 20 minutes or so of disassembly and reassembly to fix]
"NO YOU CANNOT TAKE THIS THING OUT OF SERVICE TO FIX IT GAAAAAAHHHH JUST DROP EVERYTHING AND FIX IT INSTANTLY"
