“AI produces good software” may actually be a confession of just what steaming hot trash most software is.
Average is a terrifyingly low bar.
Happy 6 year (and 1 day) anniversary to one of the most unhinged posts I’ve ever made: the HTML5 accelerator card

this is correct.
Last year I picked up hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia from a little stall in the back.
I’ve seen some breathless reporting in the media about the situation in France saying it’s the biggest cyber attack ever and the result of a swarm of Agentic AI bots.
Reality: no. It’s a complete lack of security controls and negligent product development by the vendor.
A $20 steak sounds pretty good, but I'm not sure what a TRMA is and whether I would want it.

Eigentlich logisch, dass eine Gesellschaft in der “Auto überfährt Kind” eine akzeptierte Überschrift ist auch “Roboter belästigt Kind sexuell” keinerlei Fragen aufwirft.

If you saw a viral cartoon of Dolly Parton and Tim Curry at the pearly gates, signed by the New Yorker cartoonist Brendan Loper and thought "hmm, a bit banal for him?" then congratulate yourself. It was actually generated by ChatGPT by a fan who asked the AI chatbot to make “a New Yorker-style cartoon.” When Loper found out, he was aghast. “I’m not a territorial person, but my name is my name. It felt very much like a violation of my personhood," he told Nieman Lab. Here's their story on how extensive this issue is, how artists feel about it, and what ChatGPT owner OpenAI is doing to clamp down on this behavior. “I can see the DNA of my work in there, but it still doesn’t look like something I drew,” said New Yorker contributor Emily Flake. “It’s kind of like seeing a distant cousin.”
„Michelangelus“: Auf Michelangelos Handschrift basierender Font veröffentlicht
Vor dem 400. Geburtstag des Petersdoms entstand eine Schriftart auf Basis der Handschrift seines bekanntesten Architekten. „Michelangelus“ ist nun verfügbar.
Are you in Incident Response? You may want to review your malware response plans.
"When the malware has a GitHub token, it installs a small service called gh-token-monitor. Every 60 seconds, for up to 24 hours, the service checks that token against the GitHub API. If GitHub rejects it, the service runs rm -rf ~/ (or a PowerShell delete of your user profile on Windows). So the obvious first move, revoking the token, is what sets it off."

Microsoft Teams once again outperformed by a 1970’s-era cleartext radio protocol. Put ACARS in the magic quadrant for real time collaboration as a leader, you cowards.

This shall be interesting to watch:
"an open-source, clean-room reimplementation of Adobe Photoshop, rebuilt in pure Rust."

The outcome of this experiment is beneficial for the world either way. The LLM copyright question pertaining to the clean-room myth will have to be addressed directly. With Adobe on the other side of the table - an adversary with the motive and means to do so thoroughly - there will be only winners, no matter how this plays out. 🍿

False.

Webscale: a chalky architectural residue deposited on architecture when ordinary software is repeatedly exposed to trace amounts of Google engineering blog posts.

Removal usually requires a strong solution of “what problem are we actually solving?” and a wire brush.
Severe cases may require application of a harsh cleaner known as Monolith™. Apply liberally until the architecture becomes understandable again.
For deeply embedded Webscale deposits, use PostgreSQL at full strength. Do not dilute with Cassandra.
