What would *you* do with a huge zucchini?

It’s 18 inches long, 12 inches in diameter and almost 3 1/2 pounds (1.5 kg).

From secretly buying up farmland over a ten year period, to sneaking this trailer bill through the legislature, the California Forever project is the epitome of backroom dealing.

I've had a couple of (white, privileged) friends say that nothing can be done about authoritarianism.

They say:

"Why give out red cards if ICE will just kick down the door anyway?"

"ICE will be at polling places and they're going to steal the election."

So, I'm looking for book recommendations or other sources on community organizing. I want to combat the doomerism and future-tripping.

California Friends:

Three very important bills for transgender Californians were handed to Governor Newsom last week. Please call his office at (916) 445-2841 and ask him to sign them.

SB 418: Health care coverage: prescription hormone therapy and nondiscrimination.
(Allows up to 12 months supply of prescription hormone therapy.)

SB 497: Legally protected health care activity.
(Tightens patient privacy for gender affirming care.)

SB 59: Change of name or gender and sex identifier.
(Expands confidentiality for legal name changes.)

You can read the full text of the bills by searching for them here:

Here's an alligator lizard from our patio. I wish the stick hadn't been in the way, but I didn't want to disturb my beautiful little friend.

Some people are startled by them because they look so much like a snake -- but I'm happy to see one because they eat snugs and snails.

Am thinking about my friends and loved ones who are transgender.
How hard it must be for your wellbeing to even be up for debate.
You are cherished.
You are in my heart.
You are not alone.
