I suspect there are some similar issues with the wildfire fire fighters in Canada.

The more interesting story about the #Alberta referendum are the results for the immigration questions. Looks like Smith may have gotten the results she was looking for.

What are all these data centres around the world supposed to be used for. I mean, it sounds like more are being planned and built than we could possibly need...? Even with all those AI tools?

If you're a scientist nervous about an upcoming interview with the #media the Science Media Centre of Canada offers some tips.

In case you're wondering, there are several flying cars/ personal flying machines already out there by different companies.

Umm...

Well, that was weird. Got an email from Via Rail inviting me to do a survey. The first question asked which language I wanted to use. The second question: Is it ok for the AI to record your voice for this survey? I said No.
Not allowing my voice to be recorded disqualified me from doing the survey.
When did verbal surveys conducted by AI's, and recording your voice, replace written online surveys?

If, like me, you're not happy about this move, write to Roots. Here is the contact info.

There is an antique shop in the town of Tweed Ontario. Great stuff for your eclectic decor or collecting bug. All sorts of cool stuff, including old tools and VCR tapes and records. Low prices.
I don't recall the name of the shop, but it's on the town's main strip (east side) and you can't miss it.

The Roots stores will no longer be Canadian. The company is going private and will be owned by the firm behind Martha Stewart.
If you want to buy Canadian, avoid Roots.
To write to the company to say what you think about this move, see my post in the comments below with contact info.

One of the worst things you can do to your kids is not doing the Swedish death cleaning yourself. Or even half a death cleaning.
Am in the middle of clearing out a house. It’s been a near full time job for a month. Sorting out the junk, looking for hidden family mementos, giving stuff to charities via multiple trips, prepping for a low level auction just so strangers can take stuff away, and so on. There’s a point when you just start tossing stuff.
Clear out your belongings! They might mean something to you, but to everyone else it’s just stuff.
Find that thing you forgot you had? If it’s not important enough to remember— out!
There’s that pile of dusty stuff you meant to fix that’s been there for 10 years. Seriously, you’re not going to fix it. Get rid of it.
Oh my, I have 6 of those? Keep one, rehome the rest.
It doesn’t fit me anymore but.. nope.
And your special collection of X — consider paring it down.
Your adult kids are busy. They’ll fight over how to approach the problem. It’ll stress them out and take them away from doing things they need to do for their kids, etc.. A lot of your stuff will end up in dumpsters if you don’t take care of it yourself — while you’re still able to.

Surprise! Best harvest ever! I thought the sad looking potted potato plant had died in the overly shady backyard.
And yes, this is the entire harvest. Very small potatoes.
