RE: https://mastodon.social/@dwm/117404341618408038

This is like the other toot I made,

How do you stop yourself from getting used to bugs or otherwise stupid limitations of software you maintain?

Turns out utf-8 was a red herring.

can someone help me find a PDF document that contains non-UTF8 characters?

#pdf #utf8 #document

#mastodon how the hell do I get my website link to be verified? I have tried following the instructions properly. But it simply doesn't look green like it does for others! Please help me.

FIXED: Had to use link instead of meta on my site.

Something I really don't understand with LLM adoption is, WHY SO MUCH HURRY???

What are you afraid of? What does it mean to "fall behind" here?

Whenever you see some projects banning LLM contributions, like GNU (temporarily), you have people coming along and being like "it's over, GNU will fall behind." ( https://yhetil.org/emacs-devel/jwvmrwhw6zh.fsf-monnier+emacs@gnu.org/T/#mb1ee66e8e0b1b9a6440cea58df7c0f8a6019c46f )

And now with @nlnetlabs 's policy: https://nlnetlabs.nl/llm-policy/

Similar comment regarding it: https://mathstodon.xyz/@JeroenBaten@mastodon.nl/116818302314249478

I am talking about free software projects.

@ed1conf So how do I copy things from one file to another?

i tried y and e anotherfile, then x, but it says there is nothing to paste...

inspired by @ed1conf I am going to try using only ed today.

(I can always come back to emacs using !emacsclient -nw if I really need to do so.)

#emacs #ed

I had initially hardcoded the key, but now it doesn't seem to work...

(defun collect-alist-from-tree (tree key)
(let ((collection))
(defun look (tree)
(cond-let*
([item (and (json-alist-p tree)
(assq key tree))]
(push item collection))
((proper-list-p tree)
(mapcar #'look tree)))))
collection)

I have a very nested tree, and I want to get a list of all the places there is a alist with key.

Is there a better way to do this?

#emacslisp #emacs

#emacs #guix 's guix-shell, fix a bunch of stuff, it is more reliable now, (I think).

https://tusharhero.codeberg.page/emacs-pale-canvas-and-stuff-demos.html

All the #emacs canvas, pale, etc. demos were getting hard to share around, so I just linked them all on this webpage.

What is current best way to debug #Guile Scheme programs? I find geiser to be inadequate.

@divyaranjan another thing I noticed, it is able to do 400 FPS without any trouble.

#emacs

@divyaranjan https://codeberg.org/tusharhero/snippets/raw/branch/master/patches/fix-doom-on-emacs-resolution.diff

had to make these changes to fix some weird issues with resolution and scaling.

@divyaranjan yet another demo, this time Minad ported #Doom to #GNU #Emacs. (#Doomemacs?)

https://github.com/minad/doom-on-emacs

@divyaranjan Here is a demo of the new canvas API:

#emacs

Amazing work by Minad on #GNU #Emacs : https://debbugs.gnu.org/cgi/bugreport.cgi?bug=80281. His patch adds a canvas image type which adds a canvas to Emacs (direct pixel buffer manipulation that we very desperately need see: https://codeberg.org/MonadicSheep/emacs-reader/pulls/126#issuecomment-9191474).

This work was inspired by the various PALE demos by @divyaranjan.

This means emacs-reader and PALE will be able to delete a lot of hacks and have even better performance :D.
