On 24 August 2026 X Corp. sent cease and desist letters demanding a permanent takedown of Nitter instances and the project’s repository. On 8 September 2026, they sent another, with the same demands and legal threats.

My September 7th update said the project would continue with legal representation in place. That was based on assurances I received and believed, which have since turned out to be untrue. I apologize for the misleading information.

Nitter currently has no legal counsel.

I’m seeking funding and legal help to fight for the future of Nitter. If you’re a lawyer, an organization, or anyone who can help, please get in touch. Any further news will be posted here. does anyone have any resources to help out

does anyone have any resources to help out

it’s striking how all the issues i experienced trying to drive are the same ones in self-driving cars (1)

except with self-driving there’s deep research programs on modeling the problems and describing how they’re safety concerns, and what countermeasures can be put into place

and among humans it’s “you failed a driving test, skill issue, you need to Practice” (describing the driver as inadequate, rather than the system as producing risky situations and even collisions by design)

• lol the safety margins (ability to stop before you collide) are negative

it’s infuriating that there’s so much tribal knowledge of driving being tested for, not written down anywhere (apparently neurotypicals feel no need for formalizing what’s allowed in examinations with the force of law… or they’re propping up the DMV-driving-instructor complex)

to the point the official handbook is useless, the driving codes are underspecified on when turns are allowed or not, and my best option is plugging words into LLMs and watching them lie (reddit is an option but i functionally left after they banned third-party clients)

idk if anyone on fedi would be willing to help

I am sane and can be trusted in ur noc
