This is a two- way problem. If I follow you here but not on @celesteh@queer.party please reply.

Dear babka users,

Some of you who follow me here may find that you have not been redirected to my new account. If you wish to keep following me, please manually follow @celesteh@queer.party

If you've had enough, then thank you for your time and company thus far and I wish you all the best.

Not every server federation list is equal, so if you can't follow @celesteh@queer.party , I do also have a more art + music focussed account at @celesteh@post.lurk.org

The lgbt.io website is shutting down in 3 days....

I was a moderator here for about a year. This is the easiest moderation gig I've ever had. You've been a great community.

Ok, folks, I'm backing up my data and then moving to @celesteh@queer.party

After writing about people going into delusional spirals with ChatGPT and having what look like mental breakdowns, I wanted to understand exactly how it happens.

A corporate recruiter in Toronto who spent 3 weeks convinced by ChatGPT that he was essentially Tony Stark from Iron Man, agreed to share his transcript after breaking free of the delusion.

We analyzed the transcript & shared it with experts. Now you can see the interactions & how delusional spirals happen:

I'm in Vienna.

What's happening here I should know?

Let's all be honest with ourselves for a moment. The thing that 99% of computer users want is something that *looks* like Windows 7 or XP (or Mac equivalent) and that *never changes*. Nobody cares or wants to know what happens under the hood, they just want to Do Computer and they want to do it in a way that is comfortable and *doesn't fucking change all the time*

Some time in the next 24 hours or so, I'm going to decamp to @celesteh@queer.party

A group of Jewish academics working at universities across Scotland have called on their employers to divest from Israel.

The Scottish Universities Jewish Staff Network – a network that brings together Jewish staff and researchers in higher education across Scotland – also called on universities to reject the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition of antisemitism.

This whole town is just super weird.

Is there a #microtonal #MusicTheory community on fedi? I'm looking for resources for ear training and building musical intuitions around temperaments generally, but also math like what number theory sounds like.

Boosts appreciated, especially into the kinds of math/music/autism communities where the phrase "what number theory sounds like" doesn't seem all that strange.

So "PhD" is not a unit of intelligence. It just shows that you could cope with academic bullshit long enough to do something new or at least novel.

LLMs also do not operate under any quantifiable measure of intelligence and I also strongly doubt they could generate a PhD thesis and pass a viva. I mean, a cheater could, but that's not an LLM by itself.

Sometimes the headline is so good that I don't know if I want to even read the article.

So my whole vegan thing - I try to both be logically consistent and consider harms.

I eat honey because I also eat fruit and nuts which rely on commercial polinisation that use techniques far more traumatic to bees than nicking their honey. (Also, fuck those bastards for not watching where they're going and then stinging me when they fly into me.)

I also do wear animal fibres and sometimes leather because it's less harmful ecologically than plastic. My leather shoes have been re-soled 4 or 5 times. They will outlive me. I have a leather bike seat which ought to outlast a plastic one, emit less carbon, and poison far fewer fish. There are legitimate uses of leather where its durability makes it the best choice.

Indeed, not everyone can thrive on a plant based diet. I know somebody allergic to gluten, sworn and soy. It would be absurd to demand they go vegan.

So are leather shorts better than hemp shorts? Probably not, to be honest. Sometimes I also do bad things for fashion.

@celesteh Anna Lambert, 1907-1993 spent her childhood and youth in this house, fleeing from the Nazis to England with her two children in 1939.

In June 1995, two memorial shrines were built into the foundations of the Steinertor, the symbol of the city of Krems, representing the hundreds of fates of the city's Jewish citizens.

The two bronze cubes contain memorial texts signed by 492 citizens.

@celesteh a daring tribute to David Cameron

My German skills are not very good.
