I often worrying about muting people of topics on #mastodon; but then I remember I don’t owe anyone my attention or my time. If someone or something makes me anxious or stressed (and there are currently so many things in the world that will do that in the world of today), then I am going to prioritize my own mental health and have my devices not show them to me. #mentalhealthmatters #AuDHD #calm

A couple of months ago - the stalwart BBC science programme “The Sky at Night” (which started in 1957 and is still running), covered the history of Jodrell Bank & the Lovell telescope; which is well worth watching.

I am in this picture, and I don’t like it. 🙁

Can confirm… 🙁

And the thing is, this is a solved problem. Searching used to work; but people have actively chosen to make it worse. 🙁

Aargh. Why is search so useless now? I do a web search for something specific and I get endless list of results that do not actually what specifically what I asked for. I do a search in an online store for a specific category of product and I get no results. I broaden it *ever so slightly* and I now get pages of result that aren’t even close to what I searched for. 🤬

This is still funny. 😁

How was this only 30-years ago! 😮

I really like @ivory as a #mastodon client on #iOS - but I do keep accidentally mashing the right hand side of the screen with my thumb whilst scrolling and jumping in the timeline & losing my place. Am I being dim? What am I doing? And can I turn it off?

Everything is terrible with the world. So don’t forget to stop and look at the flowers. #bloomscrolling #daffodils #calm

Hello Fediverse friends. Can I ask for advice? I am wondering what the best way to write code for simple graphics programming on #linux is? I’m looking for the sort of basic stuff that were easy to do back when #retrocomputing machine were current! Drawing simple primaries like lines, and (filled) polygons. Any suggestions of what to look at?

Vim creator Bram Moolenaar dies aged 62 • via The Register

This is an excellent obituary, and we’ll worth a minute of your time to read. https://www.theregister.com/2023/08/07/bram_moolenaar_obituary/

Time for a quick #introduction post.

I’m an engineer working in cybersecurity, and someone who really likes to understand how things work at their lowest levels. Professionally do some SRE (#ghidra over #idapro for me: though have dabbled with #radare2), & code in C & #python. Use #linux and MacOS (and avoid Windows wherever I can!). Command-line over GUI. #vim over anything else on the CLI.

Love messing about doing odd things with #raspberrypi or a #microcontroller (love the #RaspberryPiPico BTW); and like to play about doing stuff in #assemblylanguage (mostly aarch64 & x64, but also PICs, AVR and even 6502!)… Always enjoy learning about embedded systems & electronics.

I have a PhD in cybersecurity & I’m currently doing OSCP, and enjoying some CTFs as well. Fascinated by pretty much everything in #infosec. Strong interest in IoT security & also trying to learn / teach myself the details of low-level Linux programming & kernel stuff.

I’m here (from that ‘other site with the birds’) to follow interesting people posting interesting stuff about all and any of the above.
