@iris_meredith people appear to have reacted to "yay! our computers have a thousand times as much ram as when I was a kid!" with "yay! we'll have every task a thousand times more complicated and take up a thousand times more memory!"

Software should not, fun fact, grow to fit available memory, it should in fact use as little memory, processor time, disk space, and network resources as possible!
