My TGIFometer is off the scale this afternoon because at the end of today I have three entire weeks off work. :tgif:
And fuck me do I need them. :ded:

Absolutely breathtaking today. Every single door and window in the house is currently open. #GloriousSydney
PSA for #Slack users: they've added an option to disable that horrible new URL display shortening nonsense, under Preferences > Advanced > "Shorten external links".
Unfortunately it only affects your messages not others, but still.
I must once again thank @wobin for getting me onto Laoganma's crispy chilli oil. 👌🏻 I had two fried eggs on toast for lunch today, cooked the eggs in that chilli oil, and it was gooooood.
We have successfully braved the rail replacement bus, and are now home!
Today we did over seventeen thousand steps and I am spent.
We took the ferry up to New Farm and wandered around the markets and did some walking along the river, many excellent dogs were spotted on the way. Then we came back via ferry and got off at the Botanical Gardens and walked around there, then up to Roma St Parklands, before heading back to our hotel to give our feets a rest. Then finally this evening we had a mini-fedimeet and it was most excellent to see @brad, @phocks, and @ash in person!
Absolutely the worst night's sleep last night, the aircon couldn't be set either up high enough for me to be warm enough with just the two sheets, nor could it be set cold enough to be cool enough to warrant the doona. And there were no other bedding options. I'm awake solely by the power of caffeine today. :ded:
We're currently waiting at North Quay to catch the ferry up to New Farm to wander around and take photos.
We are on a plane! Headed up to Brisbane for a little three-day weekend trip. We get back on Sunday, then I have two weeks back at work and then THREE ENTIRE WEEKS off when @yayKM's mum comes to visit from the US. I haven't had any solid time off since Christmas and holy shit do I need this break.
Woot, I hit up Bunnings today for some sort of mounting system so I can use my ex-work CalDigit Thunderbolt 3 dock in the back room to plug my computer into the drum kit with a minimum of fuss and dicking around with cables. I've also got a little K-Mart side table to put a Bluetooth mouse on instead of reaching awkwardly over to the left to use the laptop's trackpad, and remembered that I had an old Apple Bluetooth keyboard floating around as well. And as a bonus, I even got everything going through my drum speaker too!
This toot brought to you by, surprise, TypeScript again.
The yak-shaving will continue until morale improves.

We had @wobin over for a game of Star Trek: Away Missions this afternoon! (I only have one core box so it was only able to be two-player, @wobin versus @yayKM, with me in an advisory role.)
Someone on BoardGameGeek came up with a set of decks for most of the expansions so I rejiggered the Borg and Chancellor Gowron decks this morning and we used those two teams. Really impressed with how they went, both teams went really well and the final score was 180 points to @yayKM's Chancellor Gowron team versus 150 to @wobin's Borg.
There were plenty of Borg shenanigans with bringing back dead drones, getting to bring one of the drones out early, and hive-minding to active other drones at terminals across the board. Plus the Borg even managed to assimilate one of the Klingons, Kromm, when Locutus rolled five attack dice and (after a bunch of back and forth discards to reroll), ended up doing a massive eight damage to Kromm and immediately turning him into a Borg drone. Sadly he didn't get the opportunity to actually do anything because he was immediately killed by Chancellor Gowron, but it was still very cool to see. The whole game felt very thematic, it was fantastic.
I just need Gale Force 9 games to hurry up and release the Klingon and Romulan boards so we can do multiplayer games without me needing to buy an entire second core box. 😛
I was unaware of the existence of Quad9 until the other day when @miknight mentioned it, so now we're switched over to their DNSCrypt-enabled servers. :success:
Fuck's sake, I domain-blocked that stupid tags.pub shit yesterday, and now some dipshit (or very possibly the same dipshit) also has tagspush.app doing the same thing as well.
I don't know why I didn't think of this before, but I realised I could just buy the Deep Space Nine Technical Manual book second-hand and not spend $300 on a brand-new copy. So I did! 😁 It joins the Star Trek: The Next Generation Technical Manual and Mr. Scott's Guide to the Enterprise books already on my bookshelf.
Extremely strong :tgif: today because I am fucking burnt out and am taking the rest of the week off. (I was already taking this Friday off because I'm getting a follow-up MRI, but on the urging of @yayKM I'm taking another couple of days to just rest and recharge.)
I'm going to get some bread going tonight because I haven't done that in ages, then will just be playing some Factorio, maybe doing some miniature painting and guitaring, and generally not doing any thinking about work.
