My neighborhood is so weird. I've left the front door of my house wide open for hours. No one broke in. Last night, my car door was ajar, and no one slept in it. I regularly leave my car unlocked, and no one breaks in and leaves behind a barely legal magazine, a crack pipe and their birth certificate, along with a distinct odor. The last person to break into my car was a raccon, and that was in tahoe.
This is not the SF I am used to.

A member of my family is all over this article about Collins' Kavenaugh decision. I think that there's more nuance in her decision than a simple up/down on Roe.
1. Why on earth would she not believe Ford? Look at him, he obviously did it.
2. This is more subtle - she believed him when he moved his mouth. This is the key sin of most establishment democrats and someone like Susan. Nowadays, anyone the administration nominates is guaranteed to be lying all the time. In Trump's first term, perhaps you can excuse Susan for not recognizing Kavenaugh was a lying liar.

Here's the genius thing about SF: we keep our tourists in exclusion zones. Other cities that are popular with tourists have them in all of the cool old neighborhoods and that completely ruins those neighborhoods for locals.
We have done it right - send the tourists to fishermen's wharf, the cable cars, and the bike-free side of GG bridge. Can you imagine how terrible it would be if they all decided Bernal or Cole Valley was the new tourist spot?

My phone rang. I looked over and, as usual, it was an unknown caller, so I didn't answer it.
It crosses my mind that in the 70s and 80s, you always answered the phone if you could. Fraudulent and spam calls were a concern, but a minor one. We usually just assumed if someone was calling, we should answer, because it was a friend, or something important.
TV shows would show someone not answering the phone as an indication they were in some sort of crisis.
Now, most communication is assumed threatening by default.
The long and short of it is that the tech industry has made fear of contact the social norm.
