It was a mama chipmunk. We watched her urge a baby out of the den in the grass to (I'm guessing) a different den in the woods. Then a bit later she came back to coax another out, but we left before she was successful. I've always loved chipmunks so this was really neat to witness.

We're at one of Vermont's many state parks and happened to pick a shady spot near a chipmunk den, a hole in the ground on the other side of a mossy tree trunk.

Tonight we went to a park on the river that runs through my hometown (or really, the more famous, larger town next to the town I grew up in) and I took this video during the pre-show for the All Night Boogie Band out of Burlington, Vermont, who were phenomenal.

It's good to be home, back in my true native habitat that I badly want to move back to. Someday, I hope.

All 3 of us stayed up late (midnight!) watching a very exciting Red Sox-White Sox game and as a consequence, we're all dragging today. It's a billionty degrees out with humidity and all the fans are already on; I'm looking forward to shifting to my brother's house, which has AC.

hello. i'm, er, not doing a mutual aid post per se, but i am having a business expense that i can't quite afford along with having lots of other bills and a vet appointment on monday that i can't quite afford. so if anyone has a spare few currency units that they might be able to send our way, i'd be very grateful. we'd be very grateful!

i'm still awaiting the decision on my disability application ... i'm working as much as i can in the meantime, but it's not going desperately well and i'm not doing desperately well either. this business expense will hopefully allow me to earn at least a bit of money in a less labour-intensive way: no guarantees, but i've got to try!

It's in the low 90's (30's) here today and wicked humid. Mom doesn't have AC so the house is shut up and fans are going. The ceiling fan barely makes a dent. It's stuffy. Last day here, thankfully. Tomorrow will be worse.

At some point today, Mom and I are going through old (really old) family photos from my grandparents and both sets of great grandparents on Mom's side. She wanted me to take them home with me last year, but my car was full with one great grandma's sewing machine.

I need/want to digitize them all and there's no way in hell I'm sending them off in the mail to do that. So at some point, I will be one with the scanner and my phone camera.

She’s Burmese, and is incredibly stylish (they all are to be fair) and she absolutely loves that I can knit and crochet.

I saw her yesterday at work and she told me she keeps telling people that there’s a professional knitter among us all 😅

So. I figured I’d surprise her with this sweater one day. I just need to somehow figure out her size and what colours she likes without actually asking her either 😅

The latter I can figure out from the amazing clothes she wears each day.

Fedi, I need help! Our visitor is asymptomatic for Flu A. I know more about covid quarantine than flu, what can you tell me about incubation periods, test times, does it show up on OTC tests (we used metrix to get this result,) how long until not contagious, is there a drug to prevent us from getting flu, etc?
