Last thing is to fix the hem. Fortunately someone is here today to mark it for me. I’ve lost a lot of weight since I made this so it hangs differently. My friend is using the big table so I’ll finish it another day. But the hard part is done. #sewing

Not quite! Needs a little less at the bust and waist. This part is more curved, so I made the tacks closer together using a single length of (quadrupled) thread. I haven’t cut them yet so it looks like a giant loopy running stitch. #sewing

Today’s #sewing project: altering a dress. This is easy mode: I’m making it smaller.

I don’t want to mess with the front or back princess seams unless I have to, so I’m starting with the side seams.

To remove the same amount on both sides I folded one over the other (press!!) and marked a new stitching line with giant loose stitches. Big sloppy tailor’s tacks. Grippy cotton basting thread isn’t going anywhere in this fabric, so I can do that.

Next is machine basting.

I have been so stressed about my job search that I haven’t done craft stuff in months. Last week I did the absolute minimum that would keep state unemployment happy so I could chill for a few days.

This week I started a small quilting project. I have a portable USB monitor I don’t use because I don’t have a travel bag for it. I’m finally making a padded sleeve for it.

It is the season for going to bed early so I can open all the windows and run all the fans at 05:00. There’s only two windows I can leave open at night, the others are too easy for bears to mess with.

And while I’ve got all those other windows open, I’ll head outside just before sunrise to murder a few weeds.

Between no computers running in the house and spending most of the day in the studio, I’ve been able to put the early morning party off a little longer than previously. But it’s time.

This is one of the best ideas I have ever had.

Two weeks ago me bought a bag of ice for guests, so today me is lounging around with a big glass of chilled water.

It’s reasonably comfortable in the house as long as I don’t do much. I could go over to my air conditioned studio but the kitchen is over here. Such troubles I have.

Somebody sent me the Coyote vs ACME trailer and wow Hollywood must have figured out that millennials and anyone younger have zero discretionary cash for entertainment.

This is major “dish of birdseed on the highway” stuff for boomer/gen x

Frens helping shop. I needed some soft squishy frens today, despite being a human and not a dog.

Since LinkedIn keeps shoving shit AI training at me, I decided to look into the most common company, DataAnnotation. They have thousands of gig annotators who scramble for tasks.

I tried to see who were the actual employees. It’s a tech company so it’s possible I have mutual connections there.

What I found were MANY second degree connections with the company listed as their current “employer” as an AI trainer. Many with solid backgrounds in professional roles.

That was pretty depressing.

Today is cool and cloudy, with a light breeze and occasional sprinkles. I have all the windows open and turned off the loud kitchen and bath fans. It’s glorious. #COwx

It’s really annoying the number of emails to my job search address that are only trying to sell me something.

My project for today was supposed to be cleaning the garage. I’ve sufficiently relocated stuff so it’s time to start organizing what remains and fill in empty places on shelves.

I lasted about 30 minutes, too hot.

I usually park the car inside and even parking outside and opening the doors early this morning didn’t help. I can’t leave the garage open overnight because of wildlife.

Maybe later this week when it rains. Although leaving the car outside that long is a different problem.
