Quite a few friends of mine are academics, teaching in universities. One was just saying she hit a new low - not one student, not ONE in her tutorial had done the reading. All just read a chatGPT synopsis.
She's utterly despairing, as the uni itself just makes motions to hand-wave it. They have to pass students, you see, to get their money. They can't just fail all of them. Or even most of them.
It's gotten so bad she outright said "I honestly wouldn't trust a degree handed out after the existence of chatGPT. They mean nothing."

Meeting today.

The very first one was obviously wrong and we could tell because we knew how many users there were total. We stopped and figured out what it did wrong.
Meeting continued as if the other stats were real. We have no idea if they were. I won’t be using anything from that deck but somebody will.
It’s not that I “don’t like AI “- although I don’t. It’s that unless you check its work like it was the most nepotism sourced intern youve ever had, you’re gambling a lot on possibly wildly wrong information.
