Ma'am, that is a twenty five thousand LoC slab of C++ code. It targets a console designed twenty two years ago and discontinued twelve years ago. It is an amalgamation of the work of several developers, forked, patched, reformatted, strained, and ultimately inexorably joined in an unholy Make ruleset. Market economics had no hand in the creation of this abhorrence. The fact that this project exists proves that God is either impotent to alter His universe or ignorant to the horrors taking place in his kingdom. This prism of code is more than a story point. It is a physical declaration of mankind's contempt for entropy. It is hubris manifest.

These researchers (including @lana ) describe how neural networks trained to predict the next frame in various kinds of videos will predict colours appearing in spinning black-and-white disks in the same manner as humans experience these “subjective colours” [the Bentham's top illusion], with the details very much depending on the network’s “experience”.

It seems the subjective colours arise from a learned association between patterns of motion and the colour of moving objects seen in the training data that is stronger than any learned rule about the constancy of a given object’s colour.

Ok! Food rescue done!

I just picked up a lot of gluten free and vegan bread from a local GF bakery. Stocked the bottom shelf of one our free fridges with gluten free bread, croissants, bagels, and cupcakes.

Someone else had done a rescue from another place and stocked the top shelf.

I did a quick cleanup of the free fridge. Most of it was good food. A lot of canned goods, cereals, tortillas and other breads.

A neighbor left some half used condiment bottles in the fridge and while I appreciated the sentiment, I had to throw those away as they weren't sealed or fresh. Alas! 😅 (we try to have two shifts per day to clean and maintain the fridge and pantry area but neighbors that utilize the fridge do well to only take what they need and looks good. No one was going to take those condiment bottles. I was just the first to see them and clean them up. Just another day! 😂)

In the below pic, I stocked the bottom shelf with clearly marked GF goods. Above it is other food stocked by another food rescue from another neighbor.
