@belehaa @aredridel I used to hang with a bunch of SAP folks… one night, we got in a drunken argument over which was more efficient: direct to consumer delivery or shopping at stores.

I challenged them to augment the VAT sections of the software to collect energy use and carbon emissions.

Dunno what became of it, but tracking the inputs along with “Value Add” is doable (with the right political will)

This, this is the decision we need to constantly be making, and ideally _building relationships about_.

Money's good, but ongoing relationships are what really move the needle.

Also, important: If we should shun Amnesty now because they caved to powerful blackmailing and got their report down, I think the blackmailers have won, with their divide and conquer -tactics.

Instead we should increase our support of organizations that do this work, so that they could firmly sustain blackmailing.

I think about garbage a lot. Off and on for about seven years I have been dreaming up a chemistry class called "This Class Is Trash." We'd go through the energy & material streams involved in the stuff we throw away, with a side helping of Discard Studies, what it means for something to be disposable, and how "throw it away" usually ends up meaning "make it somebody poorer's problem"
