This is the way we should be managing our forests. Let our indigenous forest recover or be re-established and then harvest 2 trees of high value timber per hectare per year. That way the land is protected, there are no slash problems, tangata whenua are involved, and the forest becomes sustainable long term. Such an approach needs a long term vision and a different all-embracing value proposition. It can be done. Clear felling of "weed" pines is the lowest value option in the big picture view.

So many companies use AI interfaces between them and their customers. I logged into Singapore Airlines website today to update a booking. When I entered the Reservation Number and my name the AI interface told me that they couldn't help with my enquiry because I had already flown. The booking is for August 10 this year. I panicked at this point as I didn't know what to do next. After a few moments I typed exactly the same details in and it gave me access. It's this total dependence on AI at the business/ customer interface that disturbs me. It's almost impossible to get help if an error like this happens. I have flown many times with Singapore AIrlines and love their service. But I really dislike their (and other businesses) electronic interface, especially when it fails to function. #ai #online
