I know someone who works in an industry where their job is nearly round-the-clock. They often hire one or two people as live-in help for it. (They have their own LLC for this work)
They will often hire someone from out of the country. I assume because they work for less, but idk for sure. They do give them full room and board, including good dinners at fancy restaurants and lots of travel. Idk if the benefits make up for the pay. I'm not them.
One of these employees was caught at the border during the first Trump presidency. He had lied about the reasons he was in the country (leisure instead of work) and got deported and banned for 10 years.
The parents of these people, staunch MAGAs, were flabbergasted this would happen to "one of the good ones." Absolutely stunned.
I explained to them they voted for this. They stared at me like I had just sprouted 10 more heads. Absolutely couldn't comprehend what I was saying.
Absolutely fuck these people. Idiots, every last one of them.
I've been getting back into reading over the past few months and it's going well. I'm doing roughly 2-3 books a month now, which is really good for me!
But it makes me think of a good friend of mine who's a speed reader. He reads roughly 3-5 books per week. And no, that's not an exaggeration. He tracks it in a database and can tell you the entire stories he read without hesitation.
When I choose a book to read, I'm looking for ones with decent reviews that meet my mood and needs in that moment. I'll be sitting with that book for at least a few weeks.
But when someone like him picks up a book? It doesn't matter. He could finish it in one night and it's no skin off his back if it's a bad book. He just moves on to the next one.
None of this matters overall. I just think it's interesting. His reading experience must be so much different than mine.
I hate the part of the day where all my social media is dead bc nobody's awake yet.
