Trying to figure out what to do.

I don't know my neighbors very well. It's the weekend and they're having a party. They have been playing very loud music (with house-bouncing bass) since about 9:00 p.m. and it's now just past midnight. Even though I can be spicy online, I'm not confrontational in person, so I don't want to go over there and politely ask them to shut up or at least turn it down. Also this is the first home we've ever owned, so if I start some kind of beef with our neighbors, we can't just pick up and move to avoid drama. I'm not going to call the police because it's not a real emergency and any time the police are involved, innocent people end up in peril. I am tempted to get my biggest speaker, point it out the window and blast Vivaldi, but aside from amusing our household I don't think that's going to fix anything.

@Soozcat All of your points are way too valid (and pointy to boot, if that makes sense).

Particularly wrt how difficult it is to avoid an increasingly-probable-these-days emotional toddler getting butthurt no matter how polite you are. And the dangers of calling cops (not to mention it'd also be perceived as an attack).

Wrt avoiding confrontation, very understood. Personally, I treat it like COVID and strenuously try to stay out of the same room — if not building — unless there's no choice. 🙅
