Job interview for a cook position at the art institute: scheduled Wednesday afternoon

What am I supposed to do? Taking another job expecting it is not shitty next time?

I was working there for 3 months. The probation period was about to end in 2 days. I know I failed. I’m just tired of these shitty jobs.

It’s not the first time I deal with similar issues in this restaurant. But yesterday I realized they won’t do anything to fix the broken furniture as long as I can handle the chaos. I started feeling exhausted again. Apparently my symptoms look like early stage burnout but I need a formal diagnosis. I just decided to quit. Waking up with a sore body and a knot in the gut every morning is not a sustainable lifestyle.
I’m not sure I will survive 2026 at this point. I have a few savings.

Also when I was washing the dishes the other cook used the sanitizer sink to unfreeze and clean some meat. So I had just one sink to soap and rince and another one to sanitize. At some point the cook let the water from the sink where the meat leaking into the sink I was using for sanitation. I had to start over the wash.
I didn’t even have time to take my lunch break.
Some days we work without having aprons and towels available. It can happen we don’t have aprons for 2 days.

Bring back the pans in the oven. They already lost some temperature. At some point I had to clean the station because the cook for the next shift is coming. Also I have to wash all the dishes for this station by myself because they don’t want to hire a dishwasher while other stations bring anything to their dishwasher. Mine is separate because it’s kosher food. The issue was I couldn’t make another pan of salmon on time while having to deal with all these duties.

I quit my job today. I couldn’t handle the level of dysfunction in this restaurant anymore. I work on a station which has its own ovens but no hot box to keep the food hot. The sinks are leaking I have to block the leaks with sheet pans. Yesterday one of the ovens shut down and I had a huge demand of salmon so I had to keep prepping and cooking the filets in the last working oven while removing the backup pans from it because I was using it as a hot box instead. Cook the salmon for 8 minutes
