Did they have a Warrant? Why would you invite the police into your house in their official capacity absent a threat on your life?

Or this part: " An anonymous caller had contacted CPS. The caller said that he had spoken to a woman who claimed to have met me at a conference several years ago in Alabama, where she said I told her that I had committed unspeakable violent crimes, and the caller believed my children were still at risk."

[How many degrees of hearsay are there in this statement?

Spoke to a woman (2) ]
The un-named woman alleged unspeakable crimes, years ago.
[So it is not an imminent threat?]
The caller, not the woman he unveiled his crimes to, was concerned about his children?
I am so confused.
