Having a reeeeal Berenstain moment: neither the version of “Dead Man’s Curve” I (thought I)’ve been listening to for the past forty-odd years, nor any other version I’ve been able to find, sound right to my ear. (They’re all, to a one, a tad slower, the orchestration in the intro isn’t quite right, and “You’re on buddy” is punched out all wrong.)
@adamgreenfield Wow, complicated recording history for that one. Does your memory involve the sounds of the car crash? I know that from the 60s to the 90s it was very common to do single mixes that were different from the album version, and starting in the late 80s that switched to remixes, often more drastic.
The first version I had of The Prodigy's "Poison" was on cassette dub given to me and I loved it, but I'm not sure I have ever found that same mix again.
