What really makes me angry about this is that a fraction of the money burned to date on AI could have given us a world where no one is hungry, everyone has healthcare, everyone has clean water and everyone can be educated to university level. And yes I do mean at the global level.
Oh and using the rest on renewables In the global south would raise the standard of living there immensely while preventing further growth in fossil fuel use. Instead we have this shit, using MORE fossil fuels.
