This is crazy. Why TF is Aoteaora importing BUTTER?
I bought it was because it was cheap, but the checkout operator warned me that it is US made and not like our butter. To be sure it looks and acts more like lard and it's strongly flavoured, very salty.

All through my childhood, I couldn't understand the March Hare's remark, "It was the best butter." Wasn't all butter the same? Now I know. This butter certainly wouldn't suit the works of the Mad Hatter's watch.

Label of a block of Burtfield's butter, with these words circled: "Packed in New Zealand from imported (USA) butter" and USA underlined with a question mark.

@hugh I bet Canada doesn't, but I actually don't know that for sure. There is supply management in Canada though. "In April 2010, the Globe and Mail reported that Canada was denied a seat at the TPP negotiating table because New Zealand opposed Canada's "official position in support of supply managed poultry, egg and dairy sectors."" per Wikipedia.
