I've decided to put some of my traditional/etc. songs on my Makertube. It's been lonely without anybody who shares these songs, so why not? They're just going to be straight-up low-quality videos of me singing some random songs, while going about my tasks at home, which is when I usually sing them. Most of these songs will be from my mother. This is my version of the Wayfaring Stranger. Farewell Mama.
One of the plants we've put in our fruit tree guilds (this one around a persimmon tree) is Cusick's Checkermallow. It's threatened in its native habitat, and although that's Oregon and we're in BC, it feels good to support diversity by adding it into our garden. And today it bloomed! 💕 What a peaceful softness it brings to this little shady under-tree.

Ach I've tried really hard to de-google. I've been on linux for a year+, moved blog from blogger to noblogs (huge job), moved hosting to Canadian, and switched emails to a small Italian antifascist provider and my own domain. Slowly realizing that many people's and institutions' systems only recognise gmail or hotmail emails. Mine is always going to spam. 😭 SO intensely frustrating!!!

What if we just don't grow? I mean economically as a nation, as companies large and small; as individuals. What if instead of growing we instead choose to prosper? To thrive with what we have? I've been practising that these past couple of decades, (though admittedly not necessarily by choice) and I think I'm happier for it. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.
Last year I planted something that the seed supplier had called "purple-podded pole peas", but when they fruited, my father said, "hey! Those are raasdonders!" Turns out it was a common and delicious food of his childhood, but is increasingly rare now, even in the Netherlands. AKA kapucijners (raasdonder is the local name in de Betuwe, where my father is from). His brother remembered one recipe, and he remembers another, so now we have two traditionele family ways of preparing these. 💚
