Can anyone recommend an e-reader that isn't tied to Amazon or Google? This would be for an elderly person and something #Foss or #OpenSource would be preferable.

Just got word that my younger brother has to serve the rest of his 176 day suspended sentence. He won’t be getting out until January. At first this made me smile but then I started feeling guilty for finding pleasure in somone else’s misfortune. Bleh. Sometimes I hate having a conscious.

I'm thinking it might be a good time to get into a practice of having a VPN connected at all times for the general population.

So I've got #LineageOS flashed on my internet phone. I'm trying to degoogle myself and figured this would be a good testbed. I'll post updates on this thread.

I can already tell the OS is much snappier without all the google play services running in the background.

Does this worry anyone else as much as it does me? I keep reading articles about the possible slow coporate takeover of Mastodon and spaces that use the ActivityPub protocol. Is defederating these platforms the right move? Just thinkng out loud, so to speak.
