First this scruffy teen white-breasted nuthatch foraged food from the sapsucker’s sap wells while the sapsucker was ON the tree, and then it photobombed the sapsucker’s portrait session!? Young birds these days! :sapsucker:

A sapsucker posing in a pensive contrapposto sort of pose on a massive near-horizontal willow branch, crusted with moss. The bark is so thick and gnarly the sap wells by the bird's feet are barely visible. Barely a foot or two overhead, a white-breasted nuthatch (its plumage blurred by its first adult molt as well as being slightly out of the ideal depth of field for my photo) swoops past with wings wide and tail fanned to brake for a presumed landing. The sapsucker is dapper in black and white check with a dark scarlet head coloring of restrained proportions. The intruder looks cheerful.
