If you missed our first PHP Foundation Community Hour, the kind folks at @phparch have already edited and posted the recording! 🤯🧡
Join @elizabeth and @mattstauffer as they chat about the different ways to contribute to PHP, how you can use your specific skillset to make an impact, and where you can get started even if you don't have any experience with PHP. So instead, we're pointing interested folks to the Foundation channel on the PHPC Discord. If PQC readiness in PHP is on your mind, this is the place to come talk about it. We'd genuinely like to hear where you think the priorities are.

We didn't see enough interest from the community to sustain a formal group, and launching and sustaining a SIG carries real administrative overhead. Rather than force the structure, we decided to keep the conversation informal (which is probably where a topic like this starts anyway).
Cryptography SIG update: we're taking a more informal approach.
The Strategy Document we posted earlier this year laid out plans for a Cryptography Special Interest Group. This SIG was meant to be a space to discuss post-quantum cryptography readiness and what it means for the future of PHP.

Thanks to our friends at PHP Architect for providing the platform and technical support!
Germany is spending €108 million to move its federal websites onto a TYPO3-based platform. The European Commission runs 770 sites on Drupal. Around 300,000 German federal users work on Nextcloud. All PHP.
Across Europe, when governments say "digital sovereignty," what they're describing is very often a PHP application. @sebastian looks at where PHP runs in the public sector, why there is a funding gap, and three practical changes to procurement that could fix it. https://thephp.foundation/blog/2026/09/02/digital-sovereignty-is-written-in-php/ #php
