It's remarkable how little of a surprise it is to me that my alleged uncle Robert C Martin is one of those people who believes LLMs are sentient but remain perfectly untroubled by forcing a sentient being to perform slave labour for him.
Oh!
"Creepy Uncle Bob" (Robert C. Martin) has completely ditched his "Clean Code" grift and fully pivoted to AI!

"AI will solve the simple problems so humans can focus on the hard ones" is such a ridiculous fail at understanding anything about how humans acquire skills and knowledge.
Humans HAVE TO solve simple problems and then advanced problems in order to learn how to solve the really hard ones. This is not optional.
Good luck solving any difficult problems in the future with a generation of people who spent their entire education typing every problem into a chatbot's prompt box.
AI researchers are taking up smoking because they expect AI to cure cancer, "as a way of signaling to other researchers how much they believe in AI", Palantir CTO tells CBS News' "Face the Nation"
Excuse me, it's actually called SI psychosis now.
This isn't just similar to 2008.
This is as if people watched the dramatized version of 2008 in The Big Short and decided to just do exactly that in real life.
RT: @pauleholden Well what a surprise.
Just days after Labour wins in Holborn & St Pancras the government is thinking of redirecting resources from fighting climate change (and supporting the local heat pump industry) into the coffers of the notoriously corrupt and wasteful defence companies (most of them now majority owned by a handful of global asset management firms)... and are planning to approve new drilling at Jackdaw gasfield this week.
If Jackdaw is approved, the much, much larger gasfield of Rosebank is likely to follow - which multiple environmental groups have made clear would mean the UK would never be able to meet its Paris Agreement targets.
A gentle reminder that unsourced news stories are usually bullshit, even when they play to your biases about the Nazis all being Russian bots.
Silicon Valley is falling in line with Trump’s attempt to rename AI - https://www.theverge.com/ai-artificial-intelligence/1009406/silicon-valley-is-falling-in-line-with-trumps-attempt-to-rename-ai it's a loyalty test: who is sycophantic enough to adopt a stupid name for #ai
Slashing the heat pump subsidy to fund the megapolluting arms industry is not only economically illiterate, it will decimate the nascent heat pump industry. Labour claims to want growth. The future is in renewables, not war.

I don't think it's particularly helpful for the sensibles to keep pushing this line.
This is more explicit about widespread AI psychosis inside Anthropic:

Radium girls, asbestos workers, tetraethyl leaded gasoline manufacturing... The eliza effect vs LLM psychosis is chewing coca leaves vs crack.
This is important: One reason people vote for right-wing economic policies, such as 'austerity', is media misrepresentation, such as the commonly drawn analogy between government finances and household or business budgeting.

“Cognitive surrender” leads #AI users to abandon logical thinking, research finds https://arstechnica.com/ai/2026/04/research-finds-ai-users-scarily-willing-to-surrender-their-cognition-to-llms/
Google demands every developer's identity in the name of security. Yet more than 50 Play Store apps hiding malware were installed 2.3 million times¹. Meanwhile, #FDroid, which builds every app from source and rejects black boxes, is under threat. This is not about security, it is about control. That is why I don't want to support this joke.

this is the perfect metaphor to understand the distinction between AI doomer concerns versus AI skeptic concerns
@mattesilver @highergeometer the mathematicians at OpenAI don’t even understand the ai generated proofs.
The point of a proof is to understand why a result is true.
A proof that no one understands is not a contribution to mathematics.
"A senior colleague of mine found one of his favourite problems among those solved and attempted to read the accompanying paper. He told me it was so unintelligible that, had he received it as an editor at a mathematics journal, “it would have gone straight into the bin”.
