TIL: Teriyaki (the American dish) originated in Seattle (all these years I assumed it came from Los Angeles!) and the original teriyaki restaurant in Mill Creek, WA is now 50 years old.

* Junki Yoshida, of his eponymous teriyaki sauce fame, lived in the Seattle area around the same time Toshi Kasahara started his restaurant, but Yoshida created his sauce in the 1980s when he ran a karate dojo in Beaverton, OR.
