    A chancellor in Lubbock decided which dead Americans a professor is allowed to name out loud.

    Brandon Creighton couldn't get his book-ban through the Texas legislature, so he skipped the voting and decreed it from his office — Emperor of the Reading List, red pen quivering in his little fist. Under the policy, med students got barred from treating trans patients "for any reason." A trans woman walks in with a broken wrist, and the future doctor is told to look through her like a window.

    This week the AAUP, Lambda Legal, and the NAACP Legal Defense Fund dragged him into federal court. You cannot un-teach a people their own dead. Somewhere a Texas kid finds the scrubbed name anyway — and all the Emperor's fear buys him is a permanent seat in the paragraph he tried to delete.
