There's that old joke that you shouldn't shun someone for their politics, where politics means zoning laws and shit and not whether people are entitled to due process and human rights.

I'll absolutely vote for the lesser evil where I think that's true, where I think they agree with me on the big issues and we can disagree on the rest, but when politicians start threatening me and people I care about? No. I'm not morally obligated to support that.
