So I looked at the floor and saw an ant carrying another dead ant, and this always seemed like such an honorable practice to me. To the point where I made sure to never squish one in such a situation.

I just looked it up to confirm my suspicions, and it genuinely is as honorable as I thought:

"Necrophoresis - helps to prevent the spread of disease within the colony. They remove the deceased ants and typically deposit them in designated areas known as midden piles or ant graveyards"
