Sunday? Eve update? Yeah, let's do that!
I was promoted to skirmish fleet commander in my alliance last month, and today I just finished flying fleet number twelve.
There was a remarkable amount of things that I learned in flying all those fleets.
One thing I learned is that it is important to respect the time of the people in your fleet. If you say you are going to fly for an hour, you better just fly for an hour! Because if you don't respect the time of the people in your fleet, they may not come back.
I think for me, my biggest marker for success is seeing the same names of people coming back to fleets over and over again. It tells me that I am doing something right. If they weren't having fun, they wouldn't keep coming back.
Ultimately, that's what Eve is all about. Having fun with friends!
There are other things that go into flying a fleet well too. When to ping, and where. But that's stuff that comes with time, and just pinging a bunch of fleets. Which I did :)
Did I do some PI crap this week? Yes! Did I move my SP farm out to Jita, also yes! But none of that is all that interesting. At least, I don't think so. Four dudes doing PI? Great!
For now, I am going to relax and go down from pinging four fleets a week to two. That feels like a much more reasonable number. Plus I am going to do more fun things, instead of flying the same doctrine over and over again.
Biggest thing of all is just not feeling as nervous when it comes to pinging the fleets. I have learned more about commanding a group of pilots in the last month as I did in the six months leading up to that one. Maybe even more than that TQBH. Nothing teaches like flying fleets, and getting backseat FCs to give notes.
There is always more to learn, and I am a constant student. But at least for now I feel like I am in a good place.
That's all for this week, internet friend. Whether you fly safe or fly dangerous, I hope you undock and have a little fun. Stay classy, and cheers!
