So, yesterday I followed two new people. Today one of them states outright that they hate all 'straight men' because they ran into some asshole in the metro.

The other one states that dating men means receiving dick pics and being asked to host.

Maybe I am out of touch.

@petko oh hi I see you saw my thread. The tube/underground vs the metro but I'm sure that's what you mean.

In case you hadn't noticed, I'm married to one.
I hate the social power that straight men hold. I hate the audacity of pricks like that guy - and the very many others I've run into in my life. The ones that grab us on the street. Who shout and whistle. Tell us to smile (when our parent is dying), touch us unwanted when we're out with friends, and fking hate women yet still try to get into our lives.

The construction of straightness is hateful.
Not every man has to buy into it. And not every man does.

We are allowed to react to sexism and misogyny with exasperation.
If you don't get that, you can sit with it and see if you at some point do.

I say most days I hate pigeons because they're waking me up at 4:30 and destroying my plants.
Do I seek them out to harm them? No. Does my hatred of the ones annoying me make their lives harder? No.

Why are you more concerned by me doing a #MenAreTrash than *actual shitty men*??

@petko also note how you added in 'all' to a sentence where l did not say 'all'.

And if you are genuinely open to learning, I would read more about the problems with reacting to women's criticism of misogyny with 'not all men', e.g.

    Or by a man

    Hope that helps.
