Mountain Shadow

Late August in eastern Iceland, and the sky doesn't get darker than astronomical twilight all night. The sun does set, but it doesn't dip far below the horizon.

It's 21:40 in Djúpivogur, and there's been a pretty sunset. Even now, the embers remain glowing.

Above pyramidal Búlandstindur mountain, the sun is casting its last colour onto the clouds around a long shadow of the mountain peak.
