I know Patrice O'Neal was a problematic comedian, but I vividly remember him once criticizing Independence Day (1996) because Will Smith knocks out an alien by "punching him in his outfit", and it's such an incredibly funny combination of words
@healyn this came up when I was watching this earlier this week. "so what good is that bio-armor if it doesn't even protect against a punch"
@funkula it's just one of those movies where you're better off not thinking about it. The special effects in 1996 looked incredible, and Will Smith and Goldblum and Vivica Fox were charming, Bill Pullman hammed it up, Randy Quaid was pretty much playing Randy Quaid (maybe didn't know that at the time)
