Ironically, the so-called "resistance" today is deeply conservative, promoting obsequiousness to traditions, norms, and the rule of law.

Do you know who wasn't obsequious to traditions, norms, and the rule of law? The Founding Fathers. They were political revolutionaries, radicals, who overthrew their government because they felt it was unjust and intolerable. I doubt that they would respect us for our superficial respect for them.
