I did some investigation about reducing the power usage of my NAS while keeping reasonable performance, and in one scenario I calculated that I would need to spend almost 2000 PLN to have a saving of maybe 30PLN per month. And that mostly because of DDR4 prices. That is not great ROI.

@k the thing is, hopefully in a year or so I will have PV, and by then it will be less of an issue.
@k so waiting a few years for the upgrade to pay for itself does not make that much sense

@stfn same here. I've a second hand Gen8 here with a baseline of 180W. Though most of this is covered by my solar panels I'd love to reduce this but with the current costs for tech I hope I can ride this one out.
