    look, I know most people's ideologies get mixed up with identity and "belonging"

    So growing out of certain beliefs… is always painful, especially when you realize they have contributed to harming others.

    But the hour is late, and pretty much all US "intelligence" agencies have long contained fascist elements,(eg: overthrown democratically elected govs, and spied on social justice folks). That Trump's loyalists are running them now is an opportunity to re-evaluate the entire "need" for them.

    this country has long spent billions a year on a class of people who spy on others and deceive for a living, in exchange for them (supposedly) gathering essential info and acting in ways "to protect democracy".

    And yet they "couldn't" point to these shit shows that tons of LAY PEOPLE have identified as our largest threats for (seriously) many decades? And instead they helped to grow surveillance states into grotesque realities and and make billionaires out of sociopaths...

    Come on.
