Where I work, we implemented a mandated 2FA system and this exact race condition occurred. We had to up the expiration time to 30 minutes.

Also, I'm not going to wait around for the damn email, I have other things to do. Make that timeout 4 hours and I'll see if I can get back to whatever it is I wanted to do by then. [mutter, grumble]

I was trying to sign up to a library and their codes expired in 5 minutes. It took like 4 or 5 tries because it kept taking like 8 minutes to get the email.

I swear sometimes the title of my ticket is "has anyone actually tried using this??"
