I've been assuming that one of them is the brave one and the other is more reserved, but it's hard to tell with friends so very tiny. Today I noticed that the more sociable chipmunk has a chunk taken out of his snout.
I don't think it bothers him at all. It's healing nicely.
I also suspect that it's his bravery that got him the nose scar in the first place. The chipmunk that gets the peanuts is also the chipmunk that gets into trouble.
Chip got my attention and asked for a peanut while I was watering the lavender this morning. Thank goodness I had some with me, or he would have been disappointed in me.
I had some minor gardening to do this morning before the day got too hot, putting some mulch down around the crabapple tree. Chip and his squirrel friends were interested, but it was mainly only Chip who was brave enough to come looking for handouts.
I suspect that Chip may be developing a Pavlovian association between black metal being played on tinny cell phone speakers (today's soundtrack was Septicflesh) and peanuts.
Chip came back over a dozen times, seemingly without fear or worry. I stopped getting video each time because I had mulch to put down, but each time gave me real joy.
