    RE: kolektiva.social/@HeavenlyPoss

Marvelous thread on capitalists as saboteurs of industry. The comments are wide-ranging and thoughtful, too.

If you have saved up enough that you can work for a while without a wage and assemble the tools and coworkers to do it, one of the big challenges is how to fend off these saboteurs. You may (and should) redefine “profit” to include all aspects of human flourishing, including the well-being of workers and the environment. Hard enough, but then you have to protect that from “shareholders.”

Is that even possible in today’s capitalist world?

Eric Ries (I know, improbable right?) recently argues that it is. Just barely. I’m skeptical, but he makes an interesting case with fascinating examples from labor history. The book is really only about 25% a work of political economy, though. It’s mostly about the practical methods available today to establish and protect things like worker-owned enterprises.

    The book is titled “Incorruptible.”
