Jul 2, 2026, 8:52 AM@Nonilex I was trying to understand how this relates to AQI for some personal experience context. Using the AirNow.gov AQI calculator, a worst case scenario of 2,000 micrograms per cubic meter for 6 hours (and assuming an average of 10 micrograms for an urban area during the rest of the 24 hour period required for the calculation) could equal 1859 on the index which is (being over 300), of course, hazardous.
I honestly had no clue fireworks could be as noxious as some of the worst wildfire impacts.
Disclaimer: I’m not a climate scientist nor a mathematician but I did my best to understand the relationship between these two measurements. I welcome any corrections to my math.
