@alice we don't know each other, but you have my support in standing up for consent and privacy (on fedi and off).

in the last fedi-e2ee WG meeting, Evan was dismissive of metadata-leakage concerns, even rudely shutting down interjections with "let me finish". even after a number of natural pauses that could be interpreted as "finishing".

    bully behavior

if this is the kind of person heading/taking a leading role in the WG, we may very well need a separate e2ee protocol by the end of things.

@elle @alice the more I learned about him the less surprised I am that he blocked me. I don't even remember why it happened, probably after I challenged his notion that Bluesky should be considered part of the Fediverse or something like that? Anyway, techbro wannabes are gonna techbro.

@elle @alice Cosign that I’ve seen him act the bully often enough on Fedi, whereby he seems to enjoy provoking reactions to which he can play the affronted moderate.

I blocked his ass, and would be delighted were he to be invited to stop participating in Activity Pub design.

@elle @alice hmm, interesting. I was in a matrix room about fedi development and I ended up talking about e2ee eventually. Discussion got to be about hiding metadata, how we can replicate some of signal's sealed sender stuff in a federated world, it was interesting brainstorming for sure. Then a link to a jitsi instance I believe, of that group was posted and I thought of dropping in there to see what awesome things people talk about next time it happens, but then I forgot about it. Is the atmosphere always kinda toxic and tense like that? if so, I feel like it's wasting energy for everyone involved having to deal with that kind of behavior constantly.
