Started relistening to Joy Division and wonder if there’s anyone who still writes and makes music like them anymore and what it really was like for them to make that kind of music in the late 70s. There was such a big leap from An Ideal for Living to Unknown Pleasures.

Despite listening to JD in the 80s I never actually gave the music much thought but now I wonder whether the key was in a bit of The Doors and just stripping it of chroma and hippy and make the rhythms cooler to get a more stylish sound.
