Have you read another article than me? They mixed this technique with a wood chip boiler, for when the sand battery wasn't enough. I didn't read anything about trees being set on fire.

What are you talking about? The sand is heated with electricity. They burned 60% less wood thanks to the sand battery.

Solar + Wind + Nuclear = no burning of anything.

@spacemagick They'll get there. One more sand battery like this is enough to provide 100% of the heating needs in this village. About 25% of the electricity in Finland is already nuclear. Solar and wind power are rapidly increasing, with fossil fuels dropping at the same rate.
