who are your martyrs?
today, we have Sandra Bland (say her name!!), Treyvon Martin, Michael Brown, George Floyd, Esteban Paez Terán (Tortuguita), Keith Porter, Renee Good, and Alex Pretti. there are many more whose names aren't known to us, or maybe there have been so many that we can't remember them all.
we remember Fred Hampton, Bobby Seal, the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X, and all of the people of the Civil Rights movement whose lives were taken or destroyed for wanting a better world and a better life. we remember Tom Mooney, Frank Little, Joe Hill, Sacco and Vanzetti, and the Haymarket Eight, but there are still countless more union organisers and anarchists whose names we don't know, who are buried in unmarked graves, put there by hooded, masked men who dragged them out of their beds in the middle of the night, because they came to a place to do a job.
the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said that it was crucial for the labour movement and the Civil Rights movement to join forces because their goals are the same.
in memory of those people, we've all got to be a fire so hot that ICE will melt and Bezos' Amazon will burn.
what are you ready to do? what can you do? do anything you can to end this violence. every act against a racist goon squad is an act of self-defense.
let every new grave bring a thousand angry rioters!
