@mark I agree. Ward Cunningham (he tells me) had strong opinions about the need to revise the code to represent current understanding. But the "technical debt" metaphor wasn't really a part of that when it came to talking to people on the team or in the business.

Understanding seems to have come from watching it done rather than giving things catchy names.
